  • Nina Ni, MD

I attended Harvard College and Yale School of Medicine. I completed my ophthalmology residency at the world-renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, followed by a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Uveitis at the Proctor Foundation/UCSF, where I was awarded the Claes Dohlman Fellowship Award (given to one outstanding cornea fellow in the nation annually). My special interests will be medical and surgical management of diseases of the cornea and external eye, cataract surgery, and complex cases involving the front part of the eye. This includes procedures such as corneal transplants, complex and premium cataract surgery using femtosecond laser technology, and reconstruction after trauma or previous surgeries. During my training, I was privileged to run an eye emergency room, provide refractive surgery for our armed forces in Texas, and contribute to ophthalmic care for the local population in Tenwek, Kenya. Here at ECI, I have the opportunity to continue the tradition of providing eye care to those most in need. I also serve as adjunct faculty at our local Touro University, where I treasure the chance to help educate the next generation of young physicians.

  • Bruce P. Abramson, OD

My undergraduate degree is from the University of Wisconsin. I subsequently earned a MS in physiology from the University of California, Davis and a Doctor of Optometry at University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. I am a fellow of the American Academy of and Optometry. Contact lenses are my passion, and I have over 25 years of expertise in fitting specialty contact lenses, including the new computer designed scleral lenses. I am often challenged with hard to fit cases referred to me by colleagues and it is extremely rewarding to be able to help these patients. In addition to being a board member of the Pacific Laser Eye Center, I enjoy co-managing LASIK candidates who are eager to eliminate contacts or glasses.

  • Robert L. Anderson, MD

I attended Stanford University and UC San Diego Medical School. My ophthalmic residency was at University of Oregon Health Science Center. I am board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. My special interests are glaucoma care and cataract surgery. Glaucoma tends to be a chronic problem, managed over a long period of time. One of the reasons I enjoy the glaucoma part of my practice is the opportunity to really get to know by patients as their lives change over many years.

  • Daniel G. Rich, MD

I attended the University of California, Santa Cruz majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish literature. My medical school education was at the University of California, Davis, as well as my ophthalmology residency. I am board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. While I was at Kaiser Permanente, I was the National Medical Director of Refractive Surgery. I am now doing LASIK surgery and serving as Medical Director at the Pacific Laser Eye Center in Santa Rosa. I have served as a senior examiner in all specialties for the American Board of Ophthalmology.

  • Kalane J. Wong, MD

I graduated from Harvard College and from University of California-Davis Medical School. My ophthalmic residency was at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. I am board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. In addition to focusing on comprehensive ophthalmic care and laser surgery, I enjoy working on facial aesthetics with Botox and Juvederm treatments. Many patients value having a surgeon to make decisions and perform cosmetic procedures.

  • Lillian Yang, MD

    Ophthalmologist

As a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist, I am skilled in managing a wide spectrum of eye diseases and performing surgery of the eye including glaucoma management, cataract surgery, and minor oculoplastics procedures. I have a personal interest in aesthetics and am thrilled to have this opportunity to share my passion with my patients. I moved to the Bay Area in 2016 and appreciate the strong sense of community in Santa Rosa and the beauty of Sonoma County. When not working with patients you will find me outdoors, taking a class at the gym, savoring a great meal or creating memories with my family and friends.

  • Arwa Alsamarae, MD

    Ophthalmologist

I attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and Wayne State University’s School of Medicine in Detroit. My residency training in Ophthalmology was completed at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and my fellowship training in glaucoma and complex anterior segment surgery was completed at the Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City. I specialize in the medical and surgical management of all types of glaucoma as well as routine and complex cataract and anterior segment surgeries. I look forward to offering both traditional glaucoma surgeries (trabeculectomies, glaucoma drainage devices) as well as more novel MIGS (minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries) including the iStent, Hydrus, and Xen Gel Stent, among others. I also have an interest in sustainable outreach efforts, and look forward to participating in frequent surgical endeavors alongside global partners as well as the Eye Care Institute’s outstanding local outreach efforts.

  • Avni Shah, MD

    Ophthalmologist

I grew up in New Jersey and went to Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. My internship was at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, and I completed my ophthalmology residency at the University of Colorado in Denver. My fellowship in glaucoma was at Tufts Medical Center, and I undertook a second fellowship in global ophthalmology at the University of Utah. As both a comprehensive ophthalmologist and a specialist in medical and surgical glaucoma care, I have the best of both worlds. I love seeing my patients able to enjoy their hobbies again with the vision they regain after cataract surgery, and I get great satisfaction from the long-term relationships I form with my glaucoma patients and their families. My passion within medicine is delivering care to underserved populations, and I was privileged to spend a year of my training working with the global outreach division of the Moran Eye Center performing cataract and glaucoma surgeries and training local ophthalmologist partners in Nepal, Haiti, India, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and Micronesia.
